Become a member of the ServeCorps Disaster Team

The ServeCorps Disaster team is a well-trained group of volunteers ready to be deployed in times of disaster to assist the state and local municipalities in disaster preparation, response, and recovery.

As a ServeCorps Disaster Team member, you have a choice about the level of commitment you make to training and participation.

  • Level 1 complete training that includes an Introduction, All Hazards, Volunteer Response in Hurricanes and Floods, and ICS 100.
  • Level 2 complete training that includes CERT, First Aid/CPR and ICS 200.
  • Level 3 are the team leaders who supervise Level 1 and 2 volunteers. There are two subspecialties:
    • Level 3a: mass care specialists are trained in shelter operations, feeding, traffic and crowd control and volunteer supervision.
    • Level 3b: specialize in the more physically demanding tasks such as debris removal, chain saw safety and operation (a small crew within Level 3b), water and good distribution (PODs), flood fighting and volunteer supervision.

No prior experience is necessary. Safety equipment and training will be provided.
All volunteers receive certification, exercises and drills, and opportunities to meet other volunteers.
