AmeriCorps RI Opening Day 2017

On Monday October 16th, 2017, Rhode Island AmeriCorps Members from all over the state gathered to be sworn into service at the Rhode Island State House. This year they will invest hundreds of hours of service into communities from as far North as Woonsocket, to as far South as Newport.

Secretary of State, Nellie Gorbea, and Director of the Rhode Island State Office of Veterans Affairs, Kasim Yarn, thanked our members for their citizenship and active role they are taking to better the communities they are serving.

Superintendent of Providence Public Schools, Christopher Maher administered the AmeriCorps pledge officially making each member a part of the AmeriCorps family.

The Rhode Island State Commission, and Marisa Petreccia, Director of the Corporation for National and Community Service State Office, are proud of the work the AmeriCorps member are doing. If you'd like to learn more about the AmeriCorps programs in RI click here for a full list.
